Success With Hydrangeas by Lorraine Ballato is the perfect guide for anyone wanting to upgrade their landscape with this big, beautiful flowery bush.
Springtime is the right time for planning a beautiful summer garden, and one of the most popular garden shrubs is the colorful and hearty Hydrangea. I recently reviewed Success With Hydrangeas and fell in love with this beautiful flowering shrub.
With several colors to choose from, these bountiful flowering bushes add a bright spot to anyone’s yard. They also handle weather well, so you don’t have to worry about them during turbulent spring weather.
Professional horticulturist and CIBA award-winning author Lorraine Ballato’s Success withHydrangeas: A Gardener’s Guide offers a comprehensive collection of information and photos for one of the world’s most popular flowering plants. With her sage advice, she helps gardeners “make your hydrangeas thrive” in gardens and landscapes to share their beauty.
“As well as describing varying hydrangea types in minute detail, accompanied by dazzling photography, Ballato describes the processes of fertilization, soil testing, and the crucial issue of water, presenting specific examples of such treatments needed for differing varieties.”

I met Marijke McCandless, author of Naked in the Now: Juicy Practices for Getting Present through my work at Chanticleer Book Reviews. She is a mindfulness coach and is one of the joyful people I’ve met. Her book, Naked in the Now, is about joyfulness and finding our way back to what brings us joy after years of focusing on everything but the things that bring us joy.
McCandless won the Mind & Spirit CIBA award from Chanticleer Book Reviews and you can check out the interview I conducted with her by clicking—
The Chanticleer Authors Conference has a great line up of guest speakers this year, including J.D. Barker, bestselling author and ghostwriter for James Patterson.
I am a lucky writer.
A year before my first novel was published, I received a job offer from Chanticleer Book Reviews. For someone whose previous career did not intercept with the publishing industry in any way, this was a fortuitous turn of events that has led me to learn by osmosis. All day I have the privilege of talking with bestselling, award-winning authors and learn from my co-workers about the publishing industry, the writing craft, and what life as an author is all about. It’s an education that I do not take lightly.
One of the most anticipated events we look forward to each year is the annual Chanticleer Authors Conference & Chanticleer International Book Awards (CIBA). It’s our biggest event of the year, bringing authors across the globe to learn and celebrate great books. Each author brings with them their own unique stories of how they came to be an author and what informs their work.
I’ve been writing about this year’s line of up guest speakers and I thought I’d share their remarkable stories here.
